me speaking to the world!

love is

love is
being happy for the other person when they are happy
being sad for the person when they are sad
being together in good times
being together in bad times
love is the source of strength
love is
being honest with yourself at all times
being honest with the other person at all times
telling, listening, respecting the truth and never pretending
love is the source of reality
love is
an understanding that is so complete that
you feel as if you are a part
of the other person
accepting the other person
just the way they are
and not trying to change them
to be something else
love is the source of unity
love is
the freedom to pursue your own desires
while sharing your experiences
with the other person
the growth of one individual alongside of
and together with the growth
of another individual
love is the source of success.
love is
the excitement of planning things together
the excitement of doing things together
love is the source of the future
love is
the fury of the storm
the calm in the rainbow
love is the source of passion
love is
giving and taking in a daily situation
being patient with each other’s needs and desires
love is the source of sharing
love is
knowing that the other person
will always be with you
regardless of what happens
missing the other person when they are away
but remaining near in heart at all times
love is the source of security
love is
the source of life.

Kissing under the mistletoe

Many years ago, when true love was still in the air, a boy, Joel, and a girl, Nicole, were in love. Both were around the age of eighteen years and both deeply pined for each other. They met at the king’s party last autumn and bonded in the hour they were together at the party before Nicole’s extremely strict father took her home. Since that fateful day Joel and Nicole have scarcely spoken to each other, because of Nicole’s father. He, like most fathers was a bit over protective of his daughter, and had long before forbidden Nicole from ever associating her self with the male species. The day after they had met, Joel went to call on Nicole at her home only to be chased away by her angry father. They could not chance spending more than a few minutes together when Nicole went to the market in fear of her father, yet they continued to meet discretely and their love flourished.

In these times for a couple to be married the prospective groom had to first approach the father about his intentions to be wedded to his daughter, then with the father’s permission the boy was allowed to have his first kiss with the girl. Joel and Nicole dearly wanted to be married but new Nicole’s father would not allow it, so they had to think up a way in which he would have to allow them what they want so whenever they met they tried to think of a plan. Joel suggested that they found a way to kiss in front of her father but it was Nicole who thought up the bulk of the plan so after after she explained it to Joel, they put it into motion.

They started spreading the rumor that the king had decreed that the mistletoe be a sacred plant symbolizing love of life and so any two person, of the opposite sex, who met under it were to kiss each other. They allowed the rumor to circulate for a few days then they set the next part of their plan into motion. Shain traveled into the forest and returned in the night with mistletoe and hung it all over town before returning to his home. The next dayJoel waited close to Nicole’s home and waited for her, he was soon rewarded by seeing her and her father heading towards the market.

He timed it perfectly and met up with her under a mistletoe he hung last night and gave her a long passionate kiss which she returned. Her father seeing this punched Joel and was about to continue hitting when Nicole stopped him and showed him the mistletoe. He seemed confused and looked around and for the first time seem to realize numerous people kissing under the mistletoe. He knew that they were somehow behind this but it was believed to be a decree from the king so there was nothing he could do about it, he had to allow Joel and Nicole to be wedded. On their wedding day they hung mistletoe all over the church, and there was a slight snow fall, the time being around Christmas. So even today around Christmas time people still hang mistletoe to celebrate true love.

Credit goes to me (ofcourse) and my friend derrick who helped ‘smoothen out the edges’ on this fine story.
